Iowa Core - 21st Century Skills: Technology Literacy

21st century skillsIowa Core Curriculum 21st Century Skills Committee had a vision that each Iowa student will be empowered with the technological knowledge and skills to learn effective and live productively. As a result of this committee's work, the 2007 legislative session, the Iowa Legislature established the Iowa 21st Century Skills:

This group also recognized that Iowa’s students live in a media-infused environment, marked by access to an abundance of information and rapidly changing technological tools useful for critical thinking and problem solving processes. As part of the 21st Century Skills, they recommended that every Iowa student graduate with the technology skills in order to be successful in a global an ever changing environment. The Technology Literacy Essential Concepts and Skills were developed from the NETS for Students (2007) from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
